Under the unifying motto \"Of magical places and other wondrous things\", the Kunstverein Stade is also showing works by Jork-based photographer Petra Albers, created with an infrared camera, as part of a double exhibition at Kunstpunkt Schleusenhaus from April 7 to May 1, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Working with the infrared camera has been a focus of the artist's work for several years now. She presents photographs taken during this time. But also very recent, new works. Like the two portrait-format motifs \"Lighthouse\" and \"North Sea\", these show the development of the last year from the emphatically landscape-oriented to clearly more graphic images. An exciting process that is also appealing to the viewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I owe the idea and realization of this picture series to a series of lucky coincidences: Through a contact study program at the University of Hamburg, I was able to take part in a literature seminar on the subject of \"Magical Realism\". Inspired by this and encouraged by my young fellow students, I looked for a possible realization of the theme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, chance helped me. I saw infrared photos for the first time at a photographers' meeting and knew that this was the technology that would help me with the design. So I had one of my cameras modified, i.e. converted into an infrared camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the practice phase began; technique and image content had to match. I was quickly able to reactivate my experience from analog B\/W photography and tackle the subject. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
