New infrared filters on offer
Since the first days of IRreCams.de you can choose between 4 different infrared filters for camera construction: 280 nm (full spectrum), 630 nm (for color IR), 700 nm (all-rounder) and 830 nm (for monochrome images only). While these filters provide a solid basis for many infrared ranges, there are a few creative areas of application that are now covered by 2 new filters:
- 550 nm: For red foliage (similar to analog Kodak Aerochrome film)
- InfraBlue: Color IR images with minimal post-processing on the PC
The Overview page of the infrared filters has been completely revised, there are new comparison images, free RAW files to download and lots of detailed information on all filters.
550 nm filter for the "aerochrome look"
As the weakest IR filter, the 550 is of little interest for black and white infrared photography, but offers the possibility of obtaining an image with a blue sky and red foliage - very similar to the legendary analog film "Kodak Aerochrome". Unfortunately, post-processing is more complex because a double channel swap has to be carried out (red-blue and green-blue). In one of the upcoming editing videos I will go into detail about the peculiarities of this filter. More details in the Profile.
InfraBlue filter for color IR images directly from the camera
The InfraBlue delivers results that come very close to the 630 nm filter. The big advantage: no channel swapping is necessary in post-processing! This means that you can already see the blue sky and the yellow foliage in the camera and can assess the finished image. This is particularly useful if the camera is to be used for infrared filming. This filter can also be used to create good SW-IR images and color keys. Further details can be found in the Profile on the new filter overview page.
